Horrific Vandalism: Boscombe New Playground Wrecked Days After Opening

Shortly after the opening of a new £230 000 play park in Boscombe, it has been wrecked by vandals.

The Timber Tangle adventure playground in King’s Park was opened on Friday 25th by mayor Eddie Coope and is marking Bournemouth’s first double-zip wire, which was made so children could race each other.

A few days later, the zip wire was destroyed by vandals and one of the lines is now not operating. The intruders also snapped trees, overturned bins and dislodged turf.

Andy Mcdonald, head of Bournemouth council for parks expressed his disappointment after all the efforts to bring the playground to life.

The case is currently being investigated by Dorset Police.

The park was funded by councillors’ local improvement funds, public health funds and developers.

Police Officers have been called to the park twice since the reopening, according to a spokesman from Dorset Police on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th November.

They attended the King’s Park on the both occasions but the vandals had already left by the time officers arrived.
