Councillor Jane Kelly, the ward councillor for Bournemouth West as well as a cabinet member for regeneration and public health across the borough , spoke to me about Boscombe's future, how safe it is, what the main issues in the area are and how crime is tackled.

She believes that the housing standards in the are a key issue for tackling crime, especially the ones aimed to help residents in recovery form drug or alcoholic addiction. She believes more family accommodations should be added to the mix in Boscombe.

"Crime is being tackled in a very special way", Jane says.

"We have Operation Galaxy, which is a partnership of the Bournemouth Council, working together with key partners including Dorset Police. Together, we approach problematic houses of multiple occupation which are being operated by private individuals."

"Often in these buildings live very vulnerable people", she continued.

Jane thinks that the problem in Boscombe is more a perception of anti-social behavior than crime.
