Boscombe

There is one place in Bournemouth, which intrigues me an it is called Boscombe. Most of the people I know have told me how bad it is,how robberies and violence are a routine there, people begging on the streets, drug dealers distributing their 'stuff'...
After hearing all of that, I decided to personally check whether this is all true or if these are just rumors.
I based my University Major Multimedia Project on the topic of Boscombe's future and will be aiming to find whether Boscombe is really bad and dangerous place or not. If it is, though. I would be looking at solutions and resolutions.
My journey in Boscombe began today. I went all around the area to explore and speak to people for the first time since I have been in Bournemouth. I had never been here before.
Based on all the bad reviews, I was quite surprised to see a quiet and peaceful center and main streets of the neighborhood.
Then I went to speak to passersby, just random people I could see around me. I approached nine different individuals, some of which residents, some just visiting.
Eight of them had quite a negative view of the area or something to complain about. Most of them believe more police presence is needed in the late hours of the day as they do not feel safe walking during that time
Others only complained about vandalism and gangs who wreck public properties.
Only one guy out of the nine people said that Boscombe is a lovely place to him and he would often come to visit family there.
What I want to know is was this just a coincidence and me meeting moaning people, or are the rumors true.
I am now setting up some interviews with representatives of the Bournemouth Borough Council and Dorset Police so they can clear it up for me.
